Derrick Days 2023 is already in full swing for this week. With a variety of events set to take place over the next few days, we wanted to share a schedule of events for what to expect during the festival.

Hot Dog Lunch

What: Free food, good music, and friendly faces, with entertainment by Brett Blanton
When: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 26
Where: The original Pocket Park

Sip ‘N’ Stroll and Entertainment

What: Downtown merchants invite you to sip and stroll through local shops from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. – There will be an opportunity for you to play a card for a chance to win a prize if you visit every store. Enjoy the Navarro College Jazz Band from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. by Cassaro Winery.
When: 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, April 27

Carnival

What: Family fun event. Wristbands $25 (must be 36 in. tall for wristband). Tickets only for rides, cash only for food and games.
When: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 27 – 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday, April 28 – 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, April 29.
Where: Downtown Corsicana

Block Party

What: Music by Aurora Bleu –  Food Trucks (Taco Station, K&K BBQ, C&S Baking, Boho Snow), BYOB and lawn chairs (No glass containers).
When: 6 p.m. for food trucks, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. for entertainment, Friday, April 28
Where: Main stage at the corner of 12th Avenue and Collin Street

Chili Cook-Off

What: Cook up some delicious award-winning chili, beans, and brisket. Compete for the showmanship prize. Hang out with your “besties” for the weekend.
When: Saturday, April 29
Where: Downtown Corsicana

Battle of the Bands

What: Featuring the music of Caleb Michael and the Arrested, CJ Daniels Band and Tyler Stokes Band!
When: 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, April 29
Where: Downtown Corsicana

Car Show

What: $20 per vehicle entry for Derrick Days Car Show. NOTE: Any vehicle that shows up after 12 p.m. will not be judged, but is still welcome to park for display. Categories include:

  • Top 10 Head Turners
  • Best 60/70’s Muscle Car
  • Best Car
  • Best Truck
  • Best Jeep
  • Best Motorcycle
  • Best Side By Side
  • Best Paint
  • Most Unique
  • Team Participation
  • Best In Show

When: Registration, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. – Judging, 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. – Awards, 3:15 p.m., Saturday, April 29

“42” Domino Tournament

What: 42 domino tournament. First 16 teams will pay to play. Double elimination. $20 per person entry fee.
When: 8:30 a.m. Saturday, April 29
Where: 100 S. Main Street (100 West Building)

Derrick Days “Switcholio” Cornhole Tournament

What: Derrick Days “Switcholio” Cornhole Tournament. No partner needed. $20 per person entry fee. This is an outdoor event. Bring your own chairs and canopies. Six game guarantee.
When: 12 p.m., Saturday, April 29
Where: 100 S. Main Street (100 West Building)

Derrick Days Horseshoe Tournament

What: Derrick Days Horseshoe Tournament. $20 per person entry fee. Double elimination 40 foot tournament. No washers
When: Sign up on site: 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., – Tournament begins at 11:45 a.m., Saturday, April 29
Where: Corner of Third Avenue and Main Street

Live Entertainment

What: Hear local musicians, Battle of the Bands, and local gospel music.
When: All music: Saturday, April 29

Gospel Music – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

10 a.m. to 11 a.m.: Greater Haynes COGIC – Pastor CD Washington – Mexia
11 a.m.  to 12 p.m.: High Point Church – Todd Jones Corsicans
12 p.m. to 1 p.m.: God’s Holy Temple COGIC – Pastor Eric Grant Sr.
1 p.m. to 2 p.m.: Greater Crossway COGIC – Corsicana, Texas
2 p.m. to 3 p.m.: THE SPOT CHURCH – Pastor Ricky Christmas
3 p.m. to 4 p.m.: Gospel Recording Artist – Reagan Mills – Ennis, Texas
