Yes We Can
Today is Daylight Saving Time, the day where we set our clocks forward an hour for one more precious hour of sunshine. If you haven’t done it already, or just simply forgot about it… you’ll figure it out soon enough.
I tend to like this time of year. I’m never one for short days as it is. It was especially hard on the West Coast when the day would end at 4 p.m. during the fall. That’s… an adjustment.
But the change feels like a renewal, when life get a little better. At least it gives a sense of more time, which isn’t true as its still just 24 hours any given day, but with my busy schedule, I take what I can get.
I feel like I’ve been waiting for things to move forward. I’ve had so many “potentials” lately that either feel stagnant or the goalpost keeps getting moved farther away. I realize I need to be revitalized in some ways. I’ve never been great with monotony or things being too routine to the point of stagnancy. When I started writing for the area, I had all of these goals, and ideas, and plans, and I still do, but I think the aforementioned stagnancy has slowed me down. I’m not great with apathy, either. And the area deserves more than an apathetic response to improving “quality of life” here.
I’m hoping the time change with re-energize me. I have so many things lined up with the potential of moving me forward again, but mentally, I’m past “potentially.” I need to get back out and be more “present” and active with my work. I’m hoping this month, this springing forward, will be more than ideas and concepts. I want to be part of that change.
I also need some of that “change” for myself right now.
