From Staff Reports

A “Media and Interested Party” public meeting will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8 to announce the arrival of the Dolly Parton’s “Imagination Library” program to Navarro County. Focused on children from birth to age five, over 200 million books have been provided world-wide by the “Imagination Library” since the program began.

The general public is invited to the Wednesday meeting – especially all parents, County and City officials, Independent School Districts, Libraries, Health facilities and child care organizations. The meeting will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Corsicana, 312 N. 13th Street.

Children who become enrolled in the “Imagination Library” will receive by mail each month a free, age appropriate book until their fifth birthday. Every child in Navarro County is eligible to receive books.

“Registration is easy,” Rev. Jen Mitchell, Pastor at Westminster said. “Parents and grand parents can register their children who live in Navarro County by going online at Click on “check availability” and fill-in the blanks – three minutes at most. There is no charge to register.”

Joe Hill of Westminster, project leader, said that the Imagination Library serves two important missions. “A child does better in school and in life if they have a love for books. Since moms and dads do the initial reading for the child, the family unit becomes stronger. We are so pleased to present this important program with all costs being funded by the Dolly Parton Foundation and Westminster Church.”
