Yes We Can
I always like it when I find something new (or at least new to me) in Corsicana. A friend invited me to lunch at The Sweetest Corner. It’s a small café/ice cream shop in Southland Center that has a variety of Mexican food and treats. My friend had one of their customized fruit cups. I tried their tacos, and later the quesadillas. All the food was a really fresh and tasty in a small, quiet setting. The business has apparently been there for a while, but for me, it was a nice change of pace. I like new finds.
For me, 2023 has been a been a fast year. Weeks and routines have blurred by to where I look up, and it’s already Valentine’s Day. A few weeks after that, it will be March. Time only seems to speed up as I get older. Routine has become rut. The hardest part has been the feeling of disconnect. I felt that isolation during the recent bout of icy weather. While not as hectic as two years ago, those few days were… let’s just call the last storm “challenging.”
I’m already making adjustments to my workload, as I need a personal “reset.” I love writing, but I feel I have not given it the time and attention it deserves. There’s been a lot I’ve wanted to say, and I’m working to get back to what I do best: Provide an outlet for voices, and I need to get back out there to do that.
I’ll have more to talk about in the next few weeks. I’m not leaving my role in the local community… just taking steps to “Do more, do better.” I’m a fan of creativity, not apathy, and there’s still some stories I need to share.
But yes, it’s time for something new. And change is good, because I know there’s more around the corner.
