Meet MC Farris

From Staff Reports

On Thursday, January 12, the Pearce Museum closes their latest showing: F.A.T.E. “Faculty Across Texas Exhibit” with an artist talk with blind artist M.C. Farris from 3:30pm to 5:30 p.m. The Pearce Museum is located on the Navarro College campus at 3100 W. Collin Street.

I think in some ways being legally blind from the  age of 4 has given me a drive. A drive to see everything, experience as much as I can, travel , and so on , and to make work… create.

It is my hope that my art, using mixed media on paper, canvas, and wood will allow people to confront their beliefs, and look at everyday events in a different light. Once the paintings are finished, they tend to turn on me and challenge my perceptions instead. Too often, I find myself in the same dilemma as Mary Shelley: I can’t live with Frankenstein and I can’t live without him.

To learn more about M.C. Farris and his art, come talk with him and engage him about his works, read the Q&A provided to us by Navarro art professor Laura Briseno, and check out Fariris’ website.
