From Staff Reports
Did you know that individuals, people in churches and offices in Corsicana pack shoeboxes every year that go to children in over 100 countries around the world? Many of these children have never received a gift before.
National Collection Week is Nov. 14 through 21. Please consider packing a gift-filled shoebox for this Project. Every year Corsicana residents transform empty shoeboxes into gifts of hope filled with school supplies, hygiene items and fun toys. Samaritan’s Purse will deliver these shoebox gifts to children affected by war, disease, disaster, poverty and famine. The shoeboxes bring love, hope and joy to a child who most likely has never received a gift before or heard the name of Jesus.
There are trained volunteers who lead the distributions and teach The Greatest Journey Bible Study to the children. This is how a small town in Central Texas can spread the Gospel in a foreign land.
Shoeboxes are available at First Baptist Church Family Life Center. Stop by and pick up a shoebox, fill it, and return it to the Family Life Center during Collection Week. The organization will be there each day 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, then 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, closing at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 21.
