From Staff Reports
The Kinsloe House Volunteer Committee’s program on Wednesday, Sept. 7 is “What’s the Scoop? All of Your Questions Answered” with City Council Member Susan Hale, Precinct 1. Some of the topics Hale will cover includes the city budget and tax rate, recurring revenue, capital improvements in several city departments (Fire, Police, Animal Shelter) as well as a budget addition for street repair and software.
She will address questions regarding property taxes, share an update on new economic developments, discuss the process of city Boards and Commissions, touch on the upcoming 175th birthday celebration for the city, and how citizens can get involved, and the process for input in all areas.
“During my first term, city council members were inspired to conduct “Town Hall” meetings to share information and ideas, and hear firsthand the concerns of the citizens in their precincts. Social media has largely taken over that platform, but the conversations aren’t always researched for facts,” said Hale. “It’s venues, clubs and organizations like Kinsloe House that allows us to interact directly with Corsicana residents, and as vocal as I am on social media, I value the opportunity to share factual information and answer questions.”
To make a reservation, call 903-874-5791. Lunch programs ($20) are open to members and visitors interested in learning more about the benefits of membership. Kinsloe House is located at 618 W. Third Avenue in Corsicana.
