The Corsicana City Council is scheduled to have a City Council Budget Work Session at 5 p.m., then a council meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22 in the Council Chambers of the Government Center at 200 N. 12th Street.

The agenda for the Monday City Council meeting includes:

  • Consider approving the Minutes for the City Council Regular Session of Aug 8, 2022
  • PUBLIC FORUM
    a. Recognition of Corsicana Police Officer Tommy Ordonez.
    b. Public comments.
  • PUBLIC HEARINGS
    a. Receive public input regarding adopting the Budget for Fiscal Year 2023.
    b. Receive public input regarding ratifying the property tax decrease reflected in the Fiscal Year 2023 Adopted Budget and acknowledging that the decrease raises less in tax revenue than the Fiscal Year 2022 Adopted Budget.
    c. Receive public input regarding adopting the Tax Rate of $0.5288 for Fiscal Year 2023.
    d. Receive public input regarding a proposed amendment to the Fiscal Year 2022 Budget to fund the Animal Shelter, Parks, Municipal buildings, Fire training tower, Finance software, Pioneer Village, Palace Theater, Police vehicles, street repairs, Tractor and Mower projects.
    e. Receive public input regarding a request for a Zoning Change from Single-Family Residential-4 (R-4) to General Retail (GR) for Block 168, Lots 3 and 4, also known as 1009 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
    f. Receive public input regarding a request for a Zoning Change from Single-Family Residential-4 (R-4) to General Retail (GR) for Block 189, Lot B, also known as 1105 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
    g. Receive public input regarding a request for a Zoning Change from Single-Family Residential-4 (R-4) to General Retail (GR) for Block 212, Lot pt B, also known as 1211 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
    h. Receive public input regarding a request for a Zoning Change from Single-Family Residential-4 (R-4) to General Retail (GR) for Block 704, Lots 5 and 6, also known as 1507 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
    i. Receive public input regarding a proposed amendment to Chapter 13, entitled
    Municipal Fees, of the City Code of Ordinances to provide changes and additions of certain fees.
    j. Receive public input regarding altering the prima facie speed for SH 31 from 3.2 miles west of FM 2555 to 3.7 miles east of I-45.
  • ORDINANCES
    a. Consider adopting 2023 Fiscal Year Budget.

    Confirm the Mayor’s appointment to various boards and commissions.

Executive Session: The Council will recess into closed or executive session to receive attorney’s advice on legal matters pursuant to Section 551.071 of the Texas Government Code, to deliberate on certain matters concerning real property pursuant to Section 551.072 of the Texas Government Code, and to discuss economic development negotiations pursuant to Section 551.087 of the Texas Government Code.

Return to Open Session: The Council will consider and act upon items discussed under Executive Session, as necessary.
