After a year of searching, Miss Arlene Crawford has finally found a new home for her Kountry Kitchen.

Nestled behind Frank Kent Country and near the Super 8 motel, Miss Arlene’s restaurant is found at 2021 Regal Drive in Corsicana in a small grey building finally seeing use after two decades. The building had previously been a restaurant and later a band hall.

The soul food restaurant has been in need of a new home after their old downtown location was sold to new management. After setting up temporary shop with K&K Barbecue for a year, Miss Arlene finally found the opportunity, and more importantly, a location, to set up a solo shop.

The Kountry Kitchen quietly opened up for business on June 12. The new restaurant, while smaller than the previous location, still offers up the same quality of food with the same large portions.

Indeed, her chicken and dumplings were rich and full-flavored with large chunks of chicken. The meal did not last long during the the interview.

“I’m basically doing the same thing,” Miss Arlene said. “This is where I’m at.”

Miss Arlene plans to put signage along the highway to let drivers know where she is, offer a tableside menu, and resume date nights once she gets the restaurant’s dining area more decorated.

In the meantime, she is eager to let her regulars know where she’s located these days.

“Still the best burgers in town,” a customer called out as he left the restaurant.

“That’s because they are made with love,” Miss Arlene responded.
