By Guy Chapman – Navarro County Gazette

Can you believe the Gazette has been moving along for nearly two years? It’s been a whirlwind of a journey since this news site started, and there’s no sign of it slowing down in the near future.

And that’s where the title of this column comes in.

I keep busy with trying to document as many events and people as I can around Corsicana, and with life continuing to get more back to its original pace, work has picked up. For a writer/photographer, that’s great. It keeps me busy. But I also realize that there’s a lot of work still to be done.

I’m very quality driven with my work, and it takes time to produce well-crafted content, especially interviews. I want to create more videos. I want to attend and cover more events. I need to expand my coverage more within Navarro County. I know people would like sports features. But I realize that in order to achieve those goals, it has to be more than just my voice.

And so, the Gazette is looking to find a part-time freelancer to join the team. Primarily what I would like is someone who can help cover events, broaden our established subject matter, and ensure all news releases are published in a timely manner. While I would like to find someone interested in producing video content, just keeping the site and social media pages consistently updated would be a huge benefit. Sales and advertising roles are also under consideration.

Ideally, this would be a role for someone with some journalism or writing experience. Or for someone who would like to share their voice with the community to shape positive impact. The good news is, we’re adding some new columnists to the team to increase variety and perspectives.

If interested, drop us a line at – If there’s an ideal fit for growing our staff, we can move forward from there.

As always, thanks for reading and staying with us as we grow into our next phase.

– Guy
