The Corsicana High School varsity boys track team has continued to make strides, as five individuals headed to the Region II-5A track at the end of April to compete at the University of Texas-Arlington.

Chrishawn Govan and Shawn Betts scored bronze medals recently at the Area meet in Mesquite. Govan placed third in the 100 meters with a time of 10.81, while Betts finished third in the triple jump with a leap of 41 feet, 11.25 inches.

The Tigers also had a trio of fourth place finishers, all of whom are moving on to Maverick Stadium this weekend. Ja’Shaun Lloyd had a 38.72 in the 300 hurdles, Dontay Thomas leapt 21 feet, 2 inches in the long jump, and Benjamin Brooks had a distance of 46 feet, 2.75 inches in the shot put.
