Derrick Days, Corsicana’s annual celebration of its rich oil history, has finally returned to kick off its 2022 celebration this week. With a variety of events set to take place over the next few days, The Navarro County Gazette is providing a schedule of activities for what to expect during the festival.
Hot Dog Lunch
What: Free food, good music, and friendly faces, with entertainment by Steve Colburn.
When: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 27
Where: The original Pocket Park
Sip ‘N’ Stroll and Entertainment
What: Downtown merchants invite guests to sip and stroll through local shops. There will be an opportunity to play a bingo card for a chance to win a prize. Enjoy the Jazz sounds of Aurora Bleu from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. near the original Pocket Park on Beaton Street.

Block Party
What: Music by Wesley Pruitt Band, Food Trucks (Taco Station, K&K BBQ, Kona Ice), BYOB and lawn chairs (No glass containers).
When: 6 p.m. for food trucks, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. for entertainment, Friday, April 29
Where: Main stage at the corner of 12th Avenue and Collin Street
Chili Cook-Off
What: Cook up some delicious award-winning chili, beans, and brisket. Compete for the showmanship prize. Hang out with your “besties” for the weekend.
When: Saturday, April 30
Where: Downtown Corsicana
Battle of the Bands
What: Featuring the music of Von Tez, The Tanner Sparks Band, and Della Pearl.
When: 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, April 30

Car Show
What: $20 per vehicle entry for Derrick Days Car Show. NOTE: Any vehicle that shows up after 12 p.m. will not be judged, but is still welcome to park for display. Categories include:

What: 42 domino tournament. First 16 teams will pay to play. Double elimination. $20 per person entry fee.

What: Derrick Days “Switcholio” Cornhole Tournament. No partner needed. $20 per person entry fee. This is an outdoor event. Bring your own chairs and canopies. Six game guarantee.
