About the Production
Written by Larry Coen and David Crane, and directed by Petrina Johnson and Sandra Mullenax, Epic Proportions is a hilarious play of, well, epic proportions. Set in the 1930s, Epic Proportions tells the story of two brothers, Benny and Phil, who go to the Arizona desert to be extras in the next huge Biblical epic Exeunt Omnes (think Ben-Hur and The 10 Commandments).
Things move very quickly in this riotous comedy and before you know it, the brothers roles are changing along with their relationships, as to complicate matters further they both fall in love with Louise, the assistant director in charge of the extras! Along the way there are gladiator battles, the ten plagues and a cast of thousands portrayed by four other actors. You read that right, four actors will take on the roles of Octavium, Extra, Egyptian, Queen’s Attendant, Cochette’s, Extra, Assistant, Gladiator, Conspirator, Extra, and the list goes on – Very fun parts for versatile actors!
Epic Proportions calls for 3 Men, 1 Woman, 4 Extras (flexible casting of men and women). Whether you would like to audition to be on stage or would like to help out behind the scenes, for more details about this production and auditioning please visit www.theWLAC.com.
