Yes We Can
It’s been a very busy week for me personally and professionally. For those that don’t know, I was recently brought on by 106.9 The Ranch as their upcoming on-air and digital news guy, thereby finally solidifying the “R” part of my collegiate Radio/Television/Film “Bingo” card. It’s a big step for me locally, but what is that actually going to mean in the long run?
Gazette stories will be shared on the Ranch, and Ranch stories will be shared on the Gazette. Past that, not a huge change, other than reaching a larger and more diverse audience. The Gazette still retains its independent voice, but I’ll get to talk more about local Corsicana news on The Ranch.
This has been something long in the works, and as I’ve said in the past, I always want to remain transparent with my role as a voice in the community. I’ve been very grateful for the doors opened by Corsicana, even after I left for the West Coast back in the 2000s. Who knew all of those years of working production at the Academy of Country Music Awards and County Music Award shows were preparing me for this next step in my career? Who knew news was not only going to be my thing, but stay my thing? I’m happy to do this role. It’s been deeply fulfilling, and now I get to make this opportunity something more.
Things will stay the same around the Gazette. I’ll just be making my work accessible to more people, sharing more voices from around the community, and finally have the opportunity to give the proper time to something I love doing.
Before he passed, my dad wanted me to be a storyteller. To share something bigger. In this last week, I feel like I’ve finally found the means to achieve that goal.
I can’t wait to share what happens next with you.
