From Staff Reports

Corsicana ISD (CISD) is launching its D² program this month. The “dads on duty” approach aims to inspire and encourage Corsicana ISD students. This initiative will help bridge the gap between our community and its members by implementing a unique style of support and leadership.

D² is recruiting like-minded and motivated volunteers to engage, support, interact and serve as an extra set of eyes on campuses, such as Collins Intermediate, Corsicana Middle School, and Corsicana High School. The goal is to encourage students to lead by example.

The presence of Dads on campus serving as positive role models can directly shape students’ lives. CISD passionately believes that education is a partnership between parents and schools and is committed to providing equal access to education for all students.

“D2 focuses on mentorship and service. This program will drive relationships among volunteers, students, and teachers to thrive,” said Kamar Chambers, CISD School Board member, who is the heart behind this program. “Students will look to the dads on the D² team for encouragement, I hope our presence on campus will serve as an asset to enhance the leadership development of our students.”
