Corsicana Independent School District’s “Penguin Project” premieres their performance of Disney’s Frozen Jr. 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14 in the Corsicana High School auditorium, located at 3701 E. State Hwy 22.

Tickets are now on sale for Disney’s Frozen Jr. for tomorrow and Saturday’s performances. To purchase tickets click here, visit www.cisd.org or at the door on the night of the event. Students get free admission with ID or the Penguin Coloring page handed out at High Five Friday.

The Penguin Project was founded by Dr. Andrew Morgan, “Dr. Andy”, a Professor Emeritus of Clinical Pediatrics and the former Head of the Division of Child Development at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria. Dr. Morgan has been the primary medical specialist in central Illinois involved in the diagnosis and treatment of children with disabilities for over 35 years.

These performances of the Penguin Project are led by young artists with developmental disabilities including autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, hearing impairments, intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, visual impairments, and other neurological disorders. The actors are joined on stage by a dedicated group of “peer mentors” – Fellow actors without disabilities in the same age group who volunteer to work side-by-side with their acting partner from rehearsals through the final performance.

Frozen Jr.’s large cast include the pairings of Taryn Woodruff and Laura Towles as Anna, Clara Simmons and Hannah E. White as Elsa, Olivia Lassetter and Erin Jones as Olaf, Christian McNutt as Kristoff, and Josh Olvera, and Christian Cuellar as Sven. The performance brings a variety of children together in a colorful Broadway-style musical.
