The second season of the Emmy-winning Cheer docuseries is set to debut Wednesday, Jan. 12 on the Netflix streaming platform. The series stars Navarro College cheer coach Monica Aldama and her 2020-2021 cheerleading team.

The second series, which began filming in secret in January of 2020 again focuses on the rivalry between the cheerleading teams of Navarro College and Athens’ Trinity Valley Community College.

Cheer Season 2 faced production delays between March through September due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will focus on the resulting cancellation of the 2020 NCAA National Championship, the cheer team’s sudden fame, and will directly address the sexual misconduct accusations of former cheer member Jerry Harris.

The Navarro County Gazette will be following the docuseries as it premieres.
