The first week of December 2021 did not start small as a variety of activities took place celebrating the holidays, daily life, and a natural phenomenon that had people’s cameras clicking away.

Tuesday saw “Beauville” at Navarro College’s Cook Education Center. The festive event saw Santa and Mrs. Claus greeting children, fun games and activities, the Grinch throwing candy to the kids, and even a visit from Beauregard the Bulldog.

Thursday was an activity-filled day, the biggest news centering around Mark Cuban. The entrepreneur and majority owner of the Dallas Mavericks bought the town of Mustang this week, though nothing has been announced regarding future plans.

Local filmmakers Robert Johnson and Amber McNutt held a premiere for Night Night, the Niki Koss directed film shot on location in Corsicana. The event was held at Studio Movie Grill in Dallas and was attended by several Corsicana locals.

Corsicana had its own entertainment premiere at the high school with the debut of CHS Fine Arts Production of High School Musical. The Disney Channel-inspired show ran Thursday through Saturday.

Friday provided Navarro County residents with a stormy surprise as a double rainbow appeared during their after-work commute. Locals were seen pulling over to snap a picture of the unique occurrence as a keepsake of the moment.

Saturday’s cooler weather made for ideal viewing conditions as Corsicana’s Festival of Lights Christmas Parade kicked off the evening. An hour and a half long presentation, crowds lined the streets downtown to enjoy lights, music, and holiday treats.
