A 9/11 Memorial Ceremony will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday Sept. 11 at the Freedom Flag Plaza at Bunert Community Park, located at 201 Bunert Park Road ( off of Seventh Avenue/Martin Luther King Boulevard).
The Navarro County Sheriff’s Department Color Guard will be present, with speakers including Sheriff Elmer Tanner, Corsicana Police Chief Robert Johnson, Assistant Fire Chief/Fire Marshall Wade Gillen, Mayor Don Denbow, and Congressman Jake Ellzey (TX-06).
The event marks the twentieth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, a series of four coordinated al-Qaeda strikes on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001 that demolished the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York, and another that collided with the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. The fourth attack was circumvented by the plane’s passengers, instead crashing into a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
