Yes We Can

August 21, 2020 was a big day for the Navarro County Gazette. We launched our first article online in a soft opening for a new online news source for Navarro County. During those early weeks, we tinkered around with the content, took some user feedback, and eventually debuted our official “Grand Opening” on September 7, 2020. For a two-person show, John and I never looked back after that.

Until now.

Long-time readers well know we cover more than a fair share of anniversaries on the site, and now it’s time for ours. We’re currently in the works putting some content together, a little more about the behind the scenes, and if things work out properly… we’ll be releasing something our readers have been asking for since Day One.

It’s admittedly a collection of various feelings having made it this far. Making it to one year for any business is hard enough. Making it to one year in our current health climate has been at times admittedly bizarre. But that’s been the nature of my fellow “COVID Businesses,” the stores, shops and services that have opened up in the last year. It’s been a ride, and we keep going.

I’m hoping, current environment willing, to have a meet and greet for us and our readers. Get a chance to sit down, share stories, and put a physical element to what we do. We’ll also talk about “What’s Next,” because there are some plans, but we’ll wait until we get to the one year mark before we get into that.

So I’m excited to talk about the next few weeks and what’s coming. I’m looking forward to opening up and sharing how we came to be, and what our experiences have been like. I will drop at least one spoiler by saying it’s been great so far. It really has. I’ve been moved often by the public support and reception, and I look forward to exploring new subject matter. And hopefully grow us a little past our two-man band.

So just a quick post for today before I go back into planning mode. I’ll be sharing more details as we get closer to that time. In the meantime, I think I’ll be setting the laptop down and relaxing for today.

Even writers need a break from time to time.
