Corsicana Artist and Writers Residency – formerly 100W – has a series of events coming up in the new space called STOREFRONT, located at 203 N. Commerce in Downtown Corsicana. The bookstore hours for the summer season are 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursdays, from 5 to 9 p.m., 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.

5:05 p.m., every Thursday in July and August – 5:05 HAPPY HOUR. Join the Corsicana Artist and Writers Residency staff for Happy Hour at the Storefront, featuring complimentary drinks and a 10 percent discount on our book-of-the-week. No reservation necessary.

7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, July 22 – AFTER HOURS:  Screening of Damascus. It’s in Syria. Join the Corsicana Artist and Writers Residency staff for a screening of Kate Mulley’s one woman play written for Instagram.

6 p.m., Thursday, August 12 – AFTER HOURS: Author Talk with essayist David Searcy. celebrating the release of The Tiny Bee That Hovers at the Center of the World.

11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, August 7 – Join us for Exploring Sacred Geometry with artist and sculpture Nancy Rebal. More of a group experiment, this meditative workshop is designed to experience the freedom in mark making without the distraction of onwership or judgement of skill.

11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug.14 – SUMMER BOOK FAIR, Book lovers are invited to sell, swap and share new and used books at the Storefront during Downtown’s Mimosas at the Market. Attending will be Deep Vellum Books from Dallas.

6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 13 – AFTER HOURS: Corsicana’s edgiest book club, MARGINS, begins with the first book is All My Mother’s Lovers by past 100W resident Ilana Masad.

Saturdays in August – STOREFRONT is also hosting creative workshops led by former residents and local artists. $12 for students, and $20 for adults. No experience is necessary. RSVP to Alysia@corsicanaresidency.org

11 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Saturday, Aug. 21 – CONTEMPORARY LANDSCAPES: Watercolorist and art professor David Collins teaches techniques in landscape drawing.

11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 28 – MEMOIR WRITING: Corsicana writer and past resident Pam Dudley teaches “One Moment in Time”, a memoir writing class where everyone writes one complete life story.

AFTER HOURS:  Artist talk with Rehab El Sadek and Vicki Meek, a nationally recognized curator, artist and writer.  Join Vicki Meek in conversation with past resident Rehab El Sedak of the P. Samuels Building. Free with a suggested donation of $5.00

6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 25 – AFTER HOURS: Performance of Critical, Darling! Past resident and playwright Brigham Mosley revives his drag performance. Tickets will be $10.00.
