By Guy Chapman

The City of Corsicana Freedom Festival, starts at 6 p.m., Sunday, July 4 at the I.O.O.F. Park., located at the corner of 45th Street and Highway 22. Presented by Corsicana Parks and Recreation, residents will have the opportunity to celebrate the birth of America’s freedom and independence with an enjoyable and relaxing event.

At the event’s 6 p.m. start, guests can enjoy a series of fun-filled activities for the children of Corsicana, and residents of all ages will be able to enjoy a selection of live music, including the sounds of country/rock band, PBR. Food trucks will be around the area to satisfy summer snacking needs.

At 9:25 p.m., the firework show begins. Residents are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and blankets to stretch out and enjoy the colorful spectacle brought to you by our generous sponsors.

For those concerned about potential thunderstorms for tomorrow, weather reports are showing clear (though humid) skies with a high of 90 degrees, and a low of 74 degrees in the evening.

As a reminder, the Corsicana Landfill will be closed Monday, July 5 in observance of the Independence Day holiday. Regular hours will resume Tuesday, July 6.
