Chamber of Commerce celebrates mobile video gaming experience
By Guy Chapman – Navarro County Gazette
A ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of Gamergenixgo took place tonight in the parking lot of the Corsicana & Navarro County Chamber of Commerce as video gamers of all ages got to play a few rounds of Rocket League at the dedication.
Gamergenixgo is a mobile gaming lounge that offers huge, 4K HD, flat-screen televisions inside climate-controlled theaters. The gamer experiences, which are available by appointment, feature the latest in Nintendo Switch, Playstation, and Xbox games, such as the Super Mario series, Mortal Kombat, NBA 2K, Madden, Minecraft, and Fortnite.
The idea is the brainchild of local business owner Christian Daniels, who said she got the idea after she and her son went to a birthday party.
“I was like ‘You know what, we can do that,'” Daniels said. “We can bring that to Navarro County, and have something for the kids to do.”
Though Daniels has her own gaming background, having grown up playing Super Nintendo (and is presently playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the Nintendo Switch), she credits her son as her “subject matter expert” when it came to perfecting the experience.
The “Go” in Gamergenixgo captures the on the go experience gamers can enjoy when they book the mobile lounge. Gaming sessions start at two hours, and additional time can be added to the client’s event. The set-up is equipped for a variety of social activities, including birthday parties, church, school and non-profit events.
The mobile gaming lounge has already seen bookings in and out of Navarro County, having held events in Ellis and McLennan County, and as business picks up, Daniels hopes to have multiple lounges available to entertain guests in the future.
