PRESS RELEASE: An event celebrating the dedication of the Navarro County Gold Star Family Monument will take place at 12 p.m. Saturday, May 15 on the Navarro County Courthouse lawn, located at 300 W. Third Avenue.

The celebration is a special Armed Forces Day event for Central Texas as it features Hershel “Woody” Williams, the last living Medal of Honor recipient from World War II, and a hero of the Battle of Iwo Jima.

The Gold Star Family Monument honors families who have lost a soldier in combat or military service.
