From Staff Reports
This week, from April 12 through 16, Navarro County agencies for children and families are celebrating the National Association for the Education of Young Children Week of the Young Child. The event celebrates early learning, young children, their teachers, families, and communities with two unique local events.
Meet the Pediatrician
Parents of young children and infants in Navarro County are invited to a special Zoom call 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 14th. Pediatrician Dr. Meredith Johnson and Nurse Practitioner Danika Watson will answer questions and explain the reasons for “well child” visits. Those who attend will receive a gift card and a children’s book from the Navarro County Early Childhood Coalition. To register for the Zoom link, go to www.pchas.org/navarro.

Agencies Thank Medical Professionals
Medical professionals expect surprises in their work and take them in stride. This week, however, some of those practitioners and specialists will be surprised with treats from the Navarro County Early Childhood Coalition, who will deliver snacks, goodies, and even some lunches to medical offices and school nurses.
“We appreciate the commitment that pediatricians, obstetricians and school nurses have toward children’s health,” said Rachel Gillespie, one of the organizers. “All of our agencies are working together to keep children healthy, safe and ready for school.”
Gillespie directs the Growing Together program for families with children under the age of six and is a co-founder of the Coalition.
