On April 1, the Warehouse Living Arts Center held it’s first full production audition since January 2020. Eighteen hopeful actors over three days fought through their nerves to showcase their talents by cold reading selected scenes from Steel Magnolias pulled by director Amy Gonzales.
“I was so thankful for the awesome turnout for our Steel Magnolias auditions,” Gonzalez said when asked about how auditions went. “There is so much talent in our community that it made the casting decision so difficult.”
“I want to thank everyone who came and auditioned and those that came for support,” Gonzalex added. “We are so lucky to have such extraordinary talent, and I can’t wait to get this show going.”
After much deliberation, the WLAC is very excited to announce the 2021 cast of Steel Magnolias:
Rachel Williams as Truvy Jones
Madison O’Sullivan as Annelle Dupoy-Desoto
Carolyn Lampier as Clairee Belcher
Aimee Kasprzyk as M’Lynn Eatenton
Hailey Holstein as Shelby Eatenton
Debbie Bigler as Ouiser Boudreaux
The Warehouse Living Arts Center would like to thank everyone that came out and auditioned. “It was so great to see not just the returning talent, but so many new faces,” said John Kaiser III, Executive Director of the WLAC. “I really hope they all continue to return for future shows. We could have easily cast the show twice with strong casts.”
Tickets go on sale to the general public on April 26. Evening performances will be May 27 through 29, June 1, 3, 4, and 5, with a matinee showing on May 30. Show goers can contact the WLAC Box Office for more details at 903-872-5421, or visit them online at theWLAC.com.
Sunday, May 30th and Saturday, June 5 will be “Socially Distant” performances. Seating will be limited and all social distancing safety protocols will be in place. All other dates will have all seats available.
