The Magnificent Masque of Masks, the Navarro College Theatre Department production originally postponed from its initial November 2020 date, premieres this week starting 7 p.m., Thursday Feb. 25, with two additional performances at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, and 2 p.m, Sunday, Feb. 28. Admission is free to the public, but reservations are required. Please email shellie.oneal@navarrocollege.edu to reserve seats.
The show’s idea, originated by Dr. Shellie O’Neal, Director of Theatre at Navarro College, is presented by the Navarro College Theatre Department. The Magnificent Masque of Masks highlights the theatrical traditions of masks throughout the centuries, in addition to showing how masks are also used in cultural rituals around the world.
Several of the pieces are also set to music, with lyrics for three of the songs having been written by Dr. O’Neal.
