Families can meet up with drivers/passengers at Riverside Community Center

By Guy Chapman

Earlier Thursday morning, around 100 vehicles were involved in a massive pileup crash on Interstate 35W in Fort Worth, the result of early morning ice found on the freeway. With five people confirmed dead, and dozens hospitalized, local authorities have been working to clear up the aftermath of the accident scene stretching around 1 to 1.5 miles long. The Fort Worth police have said the total number of injuries remains unknown.

There is some relief for concerned families of drivers and passengers, however. Families are able to reunite and pick up loved ones at the Riverside Community Center, located at 3700 E. Belknap Street in Fort Worth. The Center’s telephone number is 817-392-7640.

As of this writing, at least 30 people have shown up at the family reunion center. Due to no longer having vehicles, some accident victims have been delivered to their respective homes or workplaces by police officers, while others were delivered to the family reunion center for family pickup.

While the center is being used primarily for pickup, others are visiting the center to wait for more information about family members involved in the accident.

Currently all lanes on Interstate 35W have been blocked, and are not expected to be cleared before the end of the day.

Authorities are asking anyone who has knowledge of any involved drivers to call 817-546-7826.
