The Texas Veterans Parade board recently shared an update about the upcoming 2021 Texas Veterans Parade, scheduled for 10:30 a.m., May 5. Additionally, there will be a Navarro County Gold Star Monument dedication later that day at 12 p.m. on the lawn of the Navarro County Courthouse.

The Grand Marshall for this year’s parade will be Hershel “Woody Williams”. Williams, a United States Marine Corps veteran, served in the Battle of Iwo Jima with the 21st Marines, 3d Marine Division. He was later awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor from President Harry S. Truman on Oct. 5, 1945. Williams will also be dedicating the Navarro County Gold Star Monument that afternoon.

A medal of Honor Banquet is also planned for that weekend, though details are still being finalized.
