From Staff Reports

Dear Residents:

Corsicana is a fantastic place to live and raise a family. Our community has much to offer-from the wonderful public parks to the excellent schools to the historic downtown. These things combine to make Corsicana a stand-out town. Living in our city has become a goal for those seeking a high quality of life and a place to call home.

The demand for existing homes is very high. According to statistics provided by the Navarro County Board of Realtors, homes in Corsicana only stay on the market for 32 days. What does that mean for residents looking to buy a house in Corsicana? It means houses move fast here, and that there is a need for more houses.

Construction for new single-family homes increased, by 164% in 2020 when compared with 2019 and an impressive 342% increase when compared with 2018. Statistics, however, can only show so much of the picture. To see a sample of that progress, one needs to look no further than such properties as the Cedar Spring Apartments which are nearing completion next door to Walmart, the Lofts at the Corsicana Opry downtown, Westover Hills on Dobbins Road, or the Brookwood Community built on the north side of town.

All of these new properties highlight the strong market driven by an eagerness for people who want to live in our community. With things looking economically stronger for 2021, the need for growth and expansion in the city will continue as we build a brighter and more prosperous Corsicana.

Sincerely,

Don Denbow, Mayor
City of Corsicana
