Fundraiser helps North Central Texas families
By Guy Chapman – Navarro County Gazette
Meals on Wheels North Central Texas is holding a Give Love A Shot Shindig, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 14 at the RTSS gun range, located at CR 3020 in Purdon. In case of inclement weather or COVID-19 restrictions, this event will be rescheduled to a later date.
Since the pandemic, Meals on Wheels has seen the number of seniors struggling with depression, isolation and hunger nearly doubled. The increased number of homebound residents in need required more than just a nutritious meal, but socialization, safety checks, and connections to other services.
Guests are encouraged to put on their best plaid and come enjoy a day in the great outdoors. Tickets are $45 per person and includes access to all activities: Gun and archery ranges, axe throwing, yard games, food, a firepit, and live entertainment by Dadgum. For the gun and archery ranges, guests can use their own gun or one provided by the range. Limit 20 rounds of ammo.
COVID-19 has also affected the nonprofit community, especially for locals who regularly donate their time and services to these organizations. The Give Love A Shot Shindig provides a means for multiple organizations to have a far-reaching platform through this first-time event, while showcasing the opportunity for Navarro County residents to learn more about essential nonprofits, and how they can give back to these essential local organizations.
Organizations in attendance for the event include: 100 Club of Navarro County, Women Behind Corsicana Fire & Rescue, Angels of Corsicana Troop Support and Pursley VFD will be in attendance.
Tickets and sponsorships for the event can be purchased here.
